I’m a firm believer in statement pieces — something that makes you stop and look twice or strikes up a conversation. It might be a stunning piece of jewelry, unique artwork on your walls (ahem) or a spectacular piece of furniture. Statement pieces makes you feel something when you see them. Elegant, luxurious, or stylish, statement pieces are out of the box and a unique way to show your individuality. My favorite statement pieces are handcrafted — I love the feeling of knowing someone put their heart and soul into creating something beautiful, just like it’s my intention to do for your photography experience.

Kansas City Commercial Photographer Cathy Mores showcases Delka Designs custom furniture

Bret and the team at Delka Designs believe that same philosophy. A beautiful piece of furniture can be a stunning addition to your home, showcasing your personality through their handcrafted approach. Their work is absolutely gorgeous! I have to admit I am a huge fan of their commitment to quality and detail. (I am hoping one of their fantastic pieces will grace my own home someday!)

Commercial and product photography is still about the story, much like portrait photography — and my intention as the storyteller is to showcase the awesome work Delka Designs creates. The photo stories for these statement pieces highlights beautiful, handcrafted design into a home’s decor, and the work that goes into each piece. Of course we had to make some sparks fly, right?!

It totally feels like spring now that the newest Manhattan Magazine is hitting doorsteps!

Within the pages this spring you’ll find several stories I photographed: don’t miss the one about Arrow Coffee Co., which brews the most beautiful coffee in Manhattan! You’ll thank yourself for taking a moment to stop in their quaint location just off the Kansas State University campus. We’re also introducing you to runners young and old in our community, including 83-year-old Marvin H. He is a staple at every local road race and celebrates his birthday each year by running his age in laps at Ahearn Fieldhouse in mid-March. (I not-so-secretly want to be him when I grow up.)

A peek at a beautiful dental office in downtown Manhattan offers inspiration for your own space. You’ll love the custom artwork and beautiful waiting area in this art-deco-inspired office. After you’ve seen this beautiful interior, this issue of Manhattan Magazine gives you a sneak peek at the landscapers and companies who create amazing exterior spaces for your home.

Photographing for Manhattan Magazine the last few years has been great fun and a huge adventure! I have dearly loved sharing the beautiful stories about the people and places that make up the fabric of our community. Enjoy the issue!

The gifts are wrapped, the dinners are planned and Santa’s on his way… which means it’s time for you to cozy in and relax with the newest issue of Manhattan Magazine! This issue was especially fun to photograph, complete with a sneak peek of Bourbon and Baker, which has been the center of so much buzz around Manhattan. (If you haven’t been yet…it’s spectacular!) I also had the opportunity to meet the wonderful Pennington West family and photograph their beautiful home. You’ll also read about four visionary local writers — meeting each of them and hearing about what Manhattan means to them was inspiring and so unique. And don’t miss the tasty treats shown in the story about Hazel Hill! I wanted to take one of everything home after photographing there. 🙂

Enjoy the issue! If you have an idea for a story or know someone who you think should be featured, let me know!
