It’s with big excitement that I get to share Brett and Hope’s Winfield, Kansas wedding with you today! When we photographed their beautiful Konza Prairie engagement portraits last fall, I knew this was going to be a spectacular day filled with friends & family, love, and TONS of beautiful country chic details. Their vision for the day was amazing! Burlap, bling, and so many handmade touches made their Winfield, Kansas wedding venue at Quail Valley Farms totally come alive.
The whole day was filled with golden, glowing sunshine and the sounds of spring from beginning to end. We were completely surrounded by beautiful details AND happy people. It was such fun seeing Brett and Hope’s friends re-unite and having their families gather to celebrate their love! As we were driving home, I looked at my lovely sidekick (who I might add, was my glorious second shooter for the day, ahem) and was completely overwhelmed with gratitude to be part of it all. Here’s a few highlights from their day:
It’s such a treasure to me when a client becomes a friend — but when a friend becomes a client, I’m even more honored to be trusted to share and document one of the most important days of their life. (If that’s even possible!) Brett and Hope, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and laughter!

There are days that seeing a family’s love grow, with addition of a new baby sister or brother, is one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. Those first few moments together are so tender and sweet! At a wee six days old, this little beauty has certainly already captured the hearts of her family, after her much- anticipated arrival.
This new big brother is so proud of his adorable new baby sister… in between playing cars, of course. 😉
While big brother played nearby, it was a perfect opportunity to photograph just mom and dad with their sweet new arrival. Their adoration for her makes my heart swell…
And of course, big brother had his moment in front of the camera, too! At almost two, he is the perfect combination of sweetness, charm, curiosity and mischievousness. 🙂
After a quick feeding and daddy’s soothing touch, our sweet girl had her moment as the star. The two blankets she’s sleeping on are family heirlooms, and I LOVE that we incorporated them into these portraits. Seeing the love that is in the fabric of these blankets, and the significance they hold, makes these images so special. Incorporating heirlooms creates a beautiful, personal signature — and when these images displayed in this family’s home, they will always know they’re surrounded by generations who will always share their love.
Tiny and perfect, she is a cherished addition to their family.
I’m beyond honored to photograph these precious first days for this family! If you’re expecting in May or June, I’d love to talk with you about photographing your family’s new arrival!
I’m really excited to share Deneige and Charlie’s winter engagement photography session with you today — it’ll make you forget all about the deep freeze we’ve been in! 🙂 And who says you can’t make beautiful pictures just because there’s a little snow on the ground? When Deniege and Charlie said they’d be home from college to photograph their engagement portraits, a snowy backdrop seemed like the perfect way to show their warmth and connection together.
Music began their love story when they met in high school, but it wasn’t until another opportunity in college that Charlie discovered Deneige was the one who made his life complete. Together, their future holds a sweet melody, as they both look forward to the adventure.
As our feet crunched through the snowy trail to find the perfect location for their portraits, we talked and laughed, our voices cutting the crisp winter air’s stillness. Once we were out of the wind, it was mild enough to shed our coats while the warmth of the sunlight enveloped Deneige and Charlie. (For a little while, anyway.) 🙂
I loved the sharp contrast of the bare trees with the snow. The texture and simplicity of what we can create is so different compared to any other time of year! It gives us the chance to look at our surroundings with fresh eyes and a new perspective. Much like the new year, right?
And what’s a winter engagement photography session without a little sparkle on snow? 🙂
Deneige and Charlie, I am SO excited to photograph your wedding this summer! (I predict it will be MUCH warmer by then.) Cheers!
