Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’re as ready for a great weekend as I am. 🙂 Let’s get started with a few of my Friday Favorites — a roundup of five things I’m loving lately!
Favorite photography experiment: Six photographers created portraits of the same man, but each had a very different result when they were told about the subject.
See the whole video, produced by Canon Australia, here.
Favorite accessory: It’s still been a little warm to bust out my favorite blanket scarf, but when it does—watch out, world! You’ll probably see it in many of these variations from The Average Girl’s Guide:
Favorite simple dinner: I’ve been craving a bowl of hearty chili lately (although it’s been too warm out for it!) but I’m thinking that’s about to change this weekend. I’m excited to make this sweet potato & quinoa version from Jen Chooses Joy — it’s all my favorite things in one dish! And yes, I may even brave cutting an avocado to put on top… I love avocados, but I’m a klutz with a knife.
Favorite running inspiration: I snuggled up last Sunday morning with coffee and was glued to the NYC Marathon — I’m always so awed by the stories of each runner’s journey to the starting line.
Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’re ready for another summer weekend filled with friends, family and fun. Here’s a few Friday Favorites that I’m crushing on lately:
Favorite summer salad: This strawberry-cucumber salad is delish for those toasty summer nights. I love it over a bed of cooked quinoa (I make a big batch at the beginning of the week and keep in the fridge so it’s always ready to go!), and it’s a perfect light dinner. It’s delicious!
Favorite photo tip: Etsy shared a great explanation for depth of field with your DSLR, smartphone or point and shoot cameras. Have fun experimenting!
Favorite travel tips: Heading out on your summer vacay? We’ve been on the road a ton the last few weeks having some great adventures, and these tips for traveling with camera equipment can be a total life-saver.
Favorite post-run therapy: I’m making friends with my foam roller lately at the suggestion of my trainer — it’s been so good for my sore legs after a long run or speed workout. If you’ve never tried it, here’s 5 reasons to try foam rolling… and Pinterest has loads of exercises and techniques to loosen up your muscles. (not my abs… I wish! 😉 )
Favorite guilty pleasure: The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends in a couple of days… and I’m loving the fact that we’re talking about fall previews and outfits! I’m all for the effortless look, like this.
Hope you enjoy your weekend! Do you have big plans?
I hope you have a fantastic weekend with your families! Here’s a few Friday Favorites to help you celebrate… 🙂
Favorite Yum: Okay, seriously…what’s a celebration without cupcakes? I can’t wait to dig into one of these (but that’s also the “runger” from today’s long run talking). I love love love funfetti!! Recipe over at Minimalist Baker, and can be made gluten-free with a couple of easy substitutions.
Favorite quote: This has me giggling and nodding my head all at the same time. Can you relate?
Favorite way to honor another mother: A woman dies every two minutes from complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Every Mother Counts is focused on changing that statistic, especially considering that 98% of those deaths are completely preventable. Honor EMC with one of these oh-so-wearable goodies from Oiselle (even for dads and kiddos!) to show your support.
Favorite mama & child photos: As photographers it’s nearly impossible for us to get in front of the camera every once in a while. Check out these beautiful images of my NAPCP colleagues and their littles to celebrate motherhood!
Favorite activity to do together: I feel like Mother’s Day is all about spending time with my family — after all, my boys are the reason I am a mother, so the real gift is their undivided time. Any of these activities from Parents magazine sounds like so much fun! (Scheduled hugs? Yes, please!)
Happy Mother’s Day to you — moms, moms-to-be, fur-baby moms, and especially the moms in your heart. We are all moms on some level, and you should be celebrated and showered with love! Cheers!
